Going Away

Music for me is much more than it appears to most people at first glance. Music seems to have a way of expressing thoughts and feelings that mere words can't describe. Unfortunately all songs are not created equally. The majority of songs that I hear on mainstream radio fall into the category of crap.

First we have those Boy Bands. They sing melodic songs about overused clichés just to get all the girls to love them. I'm telling you their music is crap. If you happen to like NSync or any other boy band, I'm sorry if I'm offending you, but I'm just telling it like it is. In 10 years when you look back upon the music that you used to listen to, you'll realize that it is crap.

I remember when New Kids on the Block came out. All the girls loved them, and would get extremely offended if I told them that it was garbage. Now looking back they side with me.

I've constructed a 'battle plan' of sorts. This protects me from hearing crap music, or songs that have been overly played such as The Thong Song by Sisqo. I have been listening to non-mainstream stuff. I know someone, cough, my brother who frowns upon me for that, and he calls what I'm listening to crap. He is the one who listens to the same rap songs every day, not to mention that all his favorite rap songs sound almost identical.

I'm not bashing rap by the way. So don't get all offended! It's not my favorite genre of music, but it isn't always bad in my mind.

Okay, back to my battle plan. How have I been listening to non-mainstream stuff? The answer is through the wonders of technology. There are lots of sites out there that let you listen to unsigned bands and buy their cds. It's a great way to hear new things. This little article here kind of ties into my trying new things article, so read that too!

One great place to listen to some cool vibes is http://www.mp3.com. They have sooo many bands there, and they're organized by genre. Whenever you try something new, go into it with an open mind!!

Besides listening to unsigned bands, I have an interest in some Hindi music. I think I mentioned this somewhere else on the site, so I won't go into great detail about that right now. If you've never heard Hindi music, listen to Mhare Hiwda Mein Nache Mor from the movie Hum Saath Saath Hain. That's just one of my favorites, and there are other ones that I like too.

There is also one other way that I keep myself from getting bored of music, and that is by making my own. Some of the songs my friends make, and I record, and others I make and record on my own. I have two such songs on my MP3.com artist page. You can get to it by going to http://www.mp3.com/Morph3ous.

I hope you like those songs. I just made them in my spare time. They are Techno. I might make new ones from time to time, so if you like those then keep going back. You can also purchase those songs on CD from the same website for really cheap!! I might also explore making other genres of music, as long as my voice is not involved. ;-)
